THE ISLE OF ERISKA HOTEL, SPA & ISLAND - Oban - Argyll - Highland - United Kingdom
The Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa and Island is unique being located on its own private 300 acre island just off the west coast of Scotland, north of Oban.
It is secluded yet not isolated being linked to the mainland by a private vehicle bridge and is a mere 2 hour drive north from Glasgow. The Isle of Eriska is also unique being dedicated solely to the wellbeing of the 50 guests in the hotel and being run by the Buchanan-Smith Family.
The big house was built in 1884 by a branch of the Stewarts of Appin.
As with any older house the bedrooms all vary in shapes and sizes but all have the same facilities and amenities you would espect from a world class 5 star hotel. In the main house there are two main categories of Bedrooms, deluxe- slightly larger and tending towards the front of the house and standard which are a little smaller and located towards the East of the house.
Beyond the main house in the surrounding gardens lie the spa suites and two bedroom cottage suites. These offer more privacy and seclusion but not at the expense of service or style as they also offer 24 hour room service and all other facilities. The rooms outide the main house also have a greater degree of space set in private gardens with their own hot tubs.
The public rooms at Eriska all exude comfort and the warmth of hospitality you would expect from a house of this era and yet do not over formalize the areas.
Robert MacPherson, our Head Chef, joined the team at Eriska in 1987 and was immediately recognized with the award of 3 AA Rosettes and a mark of 7/10 in the good food guide.
In deference to the desire for various sporting activities, the island to the north and west of the Big House has been carefully developed. The Stables, beside the old formal garden, houses extensive facilities including a 17m Swimming Pool, Sauna, Steam Room, Spa, treatment rooms, gymnasium and a lounge and balcony with views over the golf facility.
The Espa Spa is located on the first floor of the stable building.
The cardiovascular gymnasium offers views of the mountains of Kingairloch.
After opening the pool we developed an Aromatherapy Suite on the first floor, this year we have extended this facility and now have two air-conditioned treatment suites and a relaxation room within which we are delighted to be able to offer a number of beauty treatments.
