 The Dragon is a 17th century family run former coaching inn, set in a quiet village-sized town in the stunning countryside of the historic Welsh Marches.
We have 20 en-suite bedrooms, most with exposed ancient timbers and free WiFi, a spacious function room complete with dance floor, a cosy restaurant, an indoor swimming pool and sauna and much more - all topped off with plenty of character and charm!
We pride ourselves on our warm and personal welcome with Mark and Sue Michaels' friendly style (Mark a Welcome Host scheme award winner) together with their committed staff earning the hotel a Welcome Host Gold Award.
We are within easy reach of Welshpool, Shrewsbury, Newtown and much of Shropshire.
The Dragon Hotel has held an AA rosette for fine food since 1999. All main courses are served with a selection of fresh vegetables and potatoes. We pride ourselves on the use of local produce wherever possible. There is a table d'hote menu at £22.50 as well as the full a la carte.
The Dragon lounge bar provides a warm welcoming atmosphere for a casual drink or a choice of bar meals created by our award winning chef, these include local steaks, Welsh lamb, traditional ploughman's lunches, sandwiches and much, much more. Our menus always include vegetarian options and home made soups also local steaks sirloin and fillet cut to order.
